Vat Savitri Ki Vrat Katha

 Vat Savitri is also called Badh Saanyat (बड़ सांयत), this festival is celebrated on Jyestha Vadi Amavasya, and banyan tree (बरगद का पेड़) is worshiped for long and healthy life of one’s husband (not boyfriend).

This vrat and puja is for married women. And it is suggested to Savitri by lord Shiva himself. This day married women worship banyan tree; if they don’t find this tree nearby they can worship its stem and leaves which they can buy from some plant-nursery; even if stem and leaves aren’t available, they can draw a banyan tree on a paper, after hanging it on a wall, they can worship it. It is emotions (faith) that is necessary.

For puja, light a diya beside it, offer Haldi (Turmeric) Ki Mala, and make seven rounds around it on clockwise direction. In case you have banyan tree on a wall, just rotate at your place seven rounds in clockwise direction. Observing vrat this day, will give women additional benefit, and this festival shouldn’t be taken lightly if your love your husband.

There was a king he had no child, so he called all the astrologers and asked them to tell him about his future child. After separate calculation they unanimously agreed that king would have just a daugher and her husband would die after one year of marriage. King was unhappy but accepted his fate.

After a year his wife deliverd a baby girl, and it was named Savitri. When Savitri became adult, king told her everything including her future husband would die after one year of marriage. She was unhappy too. King suggested her to find her husband herself, she agreed.

Savitri fell in love with a boy Satyavan, a woodcutter, who used to live with his blind parents in a jungle. They got married. Second day after marriage she started worshiping lord Shiva intensely, when a year was about to complete, Shiva appeared in front of her, and suggest her to do vrat and puja of banyan tree on Jyestha Vadi Amavasya, she did that, but still insecure about the life of her husband.

When one year finished, Satyavan felt a headache and lost his life. Savitri saw Dharmraj standing beside, he had captured Satyavan soul. When Dharmraj was leaving the place, Savitri followed; miles passed Savitri kept on following. At last Dharmraj asked her to take three Boons — #) first, she asked for getting Satyavan parents’ eyesight, it was granted; #) second, she she asked for getting lost kingdom of Satyavan parents, it was granted; #) third, she asked for getting a child, it was granted. But as soon as, Dharmraj granted the third Boon, Satyavan got alive.

Dharmraj mind couldn’t work for third Boon that’s why he granted so easily in a split second without thinking anything. It was the impact of Savitri vrat and fast, that hanged Dharmraj mind for some time. Also Savitri had the power of Shiva working for her, but her efforts weren't any lesser.

Essential Nyas For A Sadhak To Do Everyday

Nyas means to establish something (Devi / Devta energy) in our body: it purifies our body and makes our body and mind worthy of chanting a mantra / stotra. A Sadhak should do भूत-शुद्धि, बहिर्मातृका न्यास, अन्तर्मातृका न्यास, and षोढा-न्यास daily, 'coz we worship Devta by becoming a Devta, and in that Nyas helps us a lot. In every mantra generally many kinds of Nyas are given prior to chanting a mantra, they are usually shorter and doesn't take much time. They are essential and shouldn't be skipped. Why Two Types Of Navratri Are More Popular

Navratri comes four times in a year: 1) In Chitra (Vasant) Maas, 2) In Sharad (Ashwin) Maas, 3) In Ashadha (आषाढ़) Maas, and 4) in Magh Maas. As it is written in the following Shaloka: चैत्रे आश्विने तथाषाढे, माघे कार्यों महोत्सवः। नव रात्रे महाराज! पूजा कार्या विशेषतः ।।  Generally, we are told that two Navratri are for public and rest two Navratri are called Gupt Navratri. An Isht Devi or Isht Devata isn't alone they have their own company (called Ang Devatas), and whatever work is to be done, it is all done by Ang Devatas -- main Isht Devi / Devta remains like a Queen / King. So to take help from Ang Devtas it is a good thing to do their Mantra Japa / Homa / Tarpan also. In Yantra Avaran Puja (of your deity), you may find the list of Ang Devatas. Apart from Ang Devata, in some Guru Parampara it is said that mantra of a male or female deity shouldn't be chanted alone.
