Ravivar (Sunday) Vrat & Katha is for lord Surya (Sun). And it is supposed to help in several aspects of life. As it is the source of energy, it is also a healer for curing diseases and improving life-force (prana).
In Vedic culture, offering water to Surya comes in daily rituals. And in Yoga, Surya-Namaskar in front of it helps in flexibility of body and cures other body related troubles. Surya festival, called “Chhath Puja “ comes two times in a year and celebrated with much enthusiasm and devotion.
Ravivar Vrat & Katha helps in enhancing devotion to Surya, this way it goes stronger in your life and horoscope as well — and removes all the troubles which happen in its absence.
Vrat:
Simple thing is, worship Surya in the morning and take food only one time in the evening (before Sunset).
Katha:
Once there was an old woman. Her weekly habit on Sunday was to wake up early in the morning; bringing Cow’s Gobar which used to stand by at the outside gate of a neighboring woman; cleaning her worshiping place by spreading-and-drying diluted Gobar throughout on the ground; and to worship God with all her sentiments as she knew. Years went by, she was pleased with her habit and God was pleased too.
Then neighboring woman felt jealous seeing that old woman so happy. So she thought to disturb her worship by tying the cow inside her gate. Old woman couldn’t find Gobar that Sunday, she kept her Vrat but couldn’t do her worship throughout the day, and slept empty stomach in the night.
God who was witnessing everything, gifted that old woman a beautiful Cow so she could maintain her weekly worship. Old woman tied the cow outside her gate. Neighboring woman kept watching the new Cow secretly and knew this Cow gives golden Gobar. She felt much jealous and reported to the king that an old woman possessed a miraculous Cow and it was only suitable to the king.
King asked his men to bring the Cow. Cow arrived at the king’s palace and left the old woman in tears. And that night in the king’s dream God appeared and ordered him to return cow to the old woman — without any delay, early in morning king himself went to return the Cow; fell to the feet of the old woman and knew it was the result of her weekly worship. Since that day, king suggested everyone to do weekly worship on Sunday.
