If you are new to Mac, I think it won't take more than few hours to get familiar with it. Knowing keyboards and its keys is the first step to knowing Mac, that's the way it runs. And that's the way I learned to use it. So here we go.
In Windows we do ctrl+c, ctrl+v, ctrl+x, ctrl+a for copy, paste, cut, select all. In Mac we do with "command" key.
Remember 'em all for Mac keyboard: "Fn" for function | "⌘" for command | "⇧" for shift | "⌥" for option | "⌃" for control | "⇪" for caps lock.
BASIC PLAY: NEW, OPEN, SAVE, SWITCH, PRINT
⌘ + c = copy
⌘ + v = paste
⌘ + x = cut
⌘ + a = select all
⌘ + z = undo ; ⌘ + ⇧ + z = redo
⌘ + f = find ; ⌘ + g = find next; ⌘ + ⇧ + g = find previous
⌘ + h = hide front; ⌘ + ⌥ + h = show front
⌘ + w = close front; ⌘ + ⌥ + w = close all
⌘ + q = quit
⌥ + ⌘ + esc = choose to force quit
⌘ + ⇧ + ⌥ + esc = front app to quit in 3 second (keep on holding)
⌘ + n = new
⌘ + o = open
⌘ + s = save
⇧ + ⌘ + s = save as
spacebar = quick look (preview of selected item)
⌘ + tab = switch apps
⇧ + ⌘ + ~ = switch windows
⌘ + p = print
⌘ + space bar = spotlight search
⌘ + ⌥ + space bar = spotlight search (finder window)
⇧ + ⌘ + 3 = screenshot of entire screen
⇧ + ⌘ + 4 = custom screenshot
⇧ + ⌘ + 4 + spacebar = window screenshot
⌘ + , = preferences.
POWER PLAY: SLEEP, AWAKE, SHUTDOWN
power button: #) to turn "on" & wake up from sleep, #) hold 1.5 seconds for options — sleep / restart / shutdown, #) ⌃ + power button to force turn off, or ^ + media eject to force turn off.
^ + ⌘ + power button = force to restart
^ + ⇧ + power button = put displays to sleep
^ + ⇧ + media eject = put displays to sleep
^ + ⌘ + media eject = quit all apps and restart your Mac.
^ + ⌥ + ⌘ + media eject = quit all apps and shutdown your Mac.
^ + ⌥ + ⌘ + power button = quit all apps and shutdown your Mac.
⇧ + ⌘ + q = log out from mac a/c with options
⌥ + ⇧ + ⌘ + q = log out from mac a/c immediately.
THINGS TO HOLD DURING MAC STARTUP
⇧ = safe mode
⌥ = startup manager (to choose startup disk)
c = start up from cd / dvd / usb
d = start up from built in Apple Hardware Test / Apple Diagnostics
n = NetBoot server
⌘ + r = built in macOS Recovery system
⌥ + ⌘ + r = macOS Recovery over the internet
⇧ + ⌥ + ⌘ + r = macOS Recovery over the internet
⌥ + ⌘ + p + r = reset NVRAM (PRAM)
⌘ + s = single user mode
t = target disk mode
x = start up from macOS startup disk
⌘ + v = verbose mode
Eject (⏏), F12, mouse button, or trackpad button = eject removable media
DOCUMENT PLAY
⌘ + b = boldface.
⌘ + i = italicise.
⌘ + u = underline.
⌘ + t = font window.
⌘ + d = select the desktop folder from within an open dialogue or save dialog.
[For writers] ⌃ + ⌘ + d = show definition of selected word.
[For writers] ⇧ + ⌘ + : = show spelling and grammar window.
[For writers] ⌘ + ; = find misspelled words in the document.
Fn + ↑ = page up.
Fn + ↓ = page down.
Fn + ← = beginning of a document.
Fn + → = end of a document.
⌘ + ↑ = insertion point to the beginning of a document.
⌘ + ↓ = insertion point to the end of a document.
⌘ + ← = insertion point to the beginning of the current line.
⌘ + → = insertion point to the end of the current line.
⇧ + ⌘ + ↑ = select the text b/w insertion pint and the beginning of the document.
⇧ + ⌘ + ↓ = select the text b/w insertion point and the end of the document.
FINDER SHORTCUTS
⌘ + d = duplicate the selected files
⌘ + e = eject the disk/volume
⌘ + f = spotlight search (finder window)
⌘ + i = info for a selected file
⇧ + ⌘ + c = open the c computer window
⇧ + ⌘ + d = open the d desktop folder
⇧ + ⌘ + f = open my f files window
⇧ + ⌘ + g = open a go to folder window
⇧ + ⌘ + h = open the home folder
⇧ + ⌘ + i = open iCloud Drive
⇧ + ⌘ + k = open the network k window
⇧ + ⌘ + L = open the download folder
⇧ + ⌘ + o = open the document folder
⇧ + ⌘ + r = open the AirDrop window
⇧ + ⌘ + t = add selected finder item to the Dock
Check whichever works for you for immediate top and down
⌃ + ⇧ + ⌘ + t = add selected finder item to the Dock
⇧ + ⌘ + u = open the u utilities
⌥ + ⌘ + d = show or hide the d Dock
⌃ + ⌘ + t = add the selected item to the sidebar (check if it work for your OS version)
⌥ + ⌘ + p = hide/show the p path bar in Finder windows
⌥ + ⌘ + s = hide/show the s sidebar in Finder windows
⌘ + / = hide/show status bar in Finder windows
⌘ + j = view options
⌘ + k = connect to server window
⌘ + L = make an alias of the selected item
⌘ + n = open a new folder window
⇧ + ⌘ + n = create a new folder
⌥ + ⌘ + n = create a new smart folder
⌘ + r = show the original file for the selected alias
⌘ + t = show/hide the tab bar
⇧ + ⌘ + t = show/hide the finder tab
⌥ + ⌘ + t = show/hide the toolbar
⌥ + ⌘ + v = move the files in the clipboard from their original location to the current location
⌥ + ⌘ + y = quick look slideshow of the selected files.
⌘ + y = quick look preview of selected file.
⌘ + 1 = view items in Finder window as icons.
⌘ + 2 = view the items in Finder window as a list.
⌘ + 3 = view the items in a Finder window in columns.
⌘ + 4 = view the items in a Finder window with cover flow.
⌘ + [ = go to previous folder.
⌘ + ] = go to next folder.
⌘ + ↑ = open the folder that contains the current folder.
⌘ + ⌃ + ↑ = open the folder that contains the current folder in a new window.
⌘ + ↓ = open the selected item.
⌘ + mission control = show the desktop.
⌘ + brightness up = turn target display mode on / off.
⌘ + brightness down = turn display mirroring on / off when your Mac is connected to more than one display.
→ = open the selected folder (in list view).
← = close the selected folder (in list view).
⌥ + double click = open a folder in a separate window and close the current window.
⌘ + double click = open a folder in a separate tab or window.
⌘ + delete = move the selected item to trash.
⇧ + ⌘ + delete = empty the trash.
⌥ + ⇧ + ⌘ + delete = empty the trash without confirmation.
⌘ + y = quick look to preview the files.
⌥ + volume up = open sound preferences.
⌘ + while dragging = move the dragged item to another location.
⌥ + while dragging = copy the dragged item.
⌥ + ⌘ + while dragging = make an alias of the dragged item.
