Three is word “जात”, like देवी की जात, फलाने देवता की जात. Here for religious context it means to worship some deity (no matter who you worship). When there is Kesariya in this title it means the deity is “Kesariya” which is often called to lord Hanuman.
Kesariya Ki Jaat is celebrated on first Ashtami in Bhadon month, this day people worship tree by offering दाल, नारियल, दूध, चावल, फूल, रोली, चना, केले and some money.
Tree is worshiped ‘coz lord Hanuman sat on a tree and helped Mata Sita by showing her the Mudrika (ring) of lord Rama — and from this incident started the war of Ramayana. So in their remembrance this festival is celebrated.
This festival is also useful in saving trees: planting more trees and protecting them. Trees are just not useful for oxygen but they are useful in many diseases, ‘coz each tree has some quality which can be harnessed through Ayurveda.
And for Tantric aspects, trees are very useful, certain kinds of Tantric sadhanas only performed under trees like वट का पेड़, पीपल का पेड़, बबूल (कीकड़) का पेड़, and others. It is also said, on some trees Ghost and Pret (भूत & प्रेत) live or they make any tree their residence — thing to consider is, for worshiping purpose trees that are in a temple premises are generally considered good ‘coz everyday they are affected by mantra chanting and bhajan.
