Guga Navami Completes Raksha Bandhan

Many people think after Raksha Bandhan अब ये राखी कब उतारें, even few put them just aside that very day or the next day. Some remove them from the wrist after a week or a month, but there is prescribed time to untie Rakhi from the wrist — that is the time of Guga Navami festival.

Guga Navami festival is celebrated on Bhadon Vadi Navami. This is an important festival after Raksha Bandhan. This day, राखी पूर्णिमा पर रखे हुए गुगो की पूजा होती है, तथा रक्षा बंधन पर बाँधी गयी राखी भी इसी दिन खोली जाती है — फिर उनकी रोली, चावल, तथा कलाया से पूजा होती है तथा गुड शहद इत्यादि भी चढाते हैं.

As Rakhi is pavitra thing and lots of emotions are connected with it — it shouldn’t be thrown in a dustbin. It should be either given to Holy Ganga or Holy fire; if this is not possible just leave them in some temple.
