This festival, Devasthan is celebrated on Ashadha Sudi Ekadashi, it is also called Sovani (word for sleep) and Devshyani (a deity goes to sleep); it is said, from this day our deities go to sleep for four months. This day lord Vishnu is worshiped by decorating his Murti (statue) with Shankh, Chakra, Gada and Padam; and with yellow clothes — people light diya, offer flowers,Tambool (ताम्बूल यानि पान का पत्ता ) and Pungiphal (सुपारी). They also chant mantra, stotras, aarti, bhajan and kirtan.
And pray: O lord Vishnu ! when you go to sleep, whole universe sleeps and when you awake, whole universe awakes. This day, people also observe vrat (fast), feed the poor and donate money to them. And at night they sleep with their deity.
